Cross sections to illustrate the results of the Restivity Surveys (Keith Foster). The colours show that the ground material varies in density with depth and moisture content.  Low values are indicated by  brown/orange  while blue/purple indicating higher values. A tunnel would be expected to show up as a void which would have been black. If a tunnel had been filled in the technique used would not necessarily have detected it.  These sections illustrate the results obtained on traverses  along  the east side of the sunken road below the Church and on the west side of the grave-yard. These locations appear to be less disturbed and it was anticipated that a tunnel would have needed to have accessed the Church within their range.
